A Love Story: Written By Kit

Kit, Melody, and Josefina were having a Valentine’s sleepover. Kit had promised them a love story that she’d written.

At her sisters’ requests, Kit started her story.

“Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived a princess named Sarafina. Many years ago, she’d been cursed to live a life of eternal slumber. Only if her true love could come would she be awakened.

At that same time there lived a young farmer named Kip. He grew tired of his repetitive life. Upon hearing of the cursed princess, he took the opportunity to have an adventure.

He set off after grabbing food and a bag to store it in. He was ready for the many dangers he’d face. For many had tried to rescue Sarafina and all had failed. More than a few casualties had happened.

Brave Kip walked for days until he found the infamous, ravenous, and huge dog. The dog struck fear into the hearts of all. Though he was afraid, Kip knew the dog had to be taken down.

“Why can’t it be a nice dog who helps Kip?” Josefina asked.

“Because plot development,” Kit replied.

“Oh.”

“Ahem. Kip, having no weapons, tackled the ferocious dog. For a while, it wasn’t clear who was winning. But it soon became obvious.

Kip had taken the dog down. Not only that, but the dog had been tamed.

Kip rode atop his new steed. Now nothing could stand in his way.

Kip and his dog finally reached where Sarafina lay. Kip looked at her in wonder, for she was very beautiful.

He pushed away the veil and leaned in for a kiss–”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, consent please! He can’t go around kissing anybody he wants!” Melody yelled.

Kit sighed. “Fine.”

“Sarafina awoke as soon as Kip’s presence came into the room. She sat up for the first time in years, looking at Kip with wide eyes. She asked who it was who saved her. A knight, perhaps?

“No,” Kip replied. “Just a humble farmer who wishes to do good for his kingdom.”

“A kiss, perhaps, for my hero?” the Sarafina asked.

“A kiss would be the best gift you could give me, your highness,” Kip said.

When they pulled apart, Kip and Sarafina hopped upon the dog and rode back to the kingdom.

The queen, Melanie, was overjoyed to see her daughter again. They embraced for what seemed like eternity.

“Brave one, you have my blessing,” Melanie told Kip. It was all she could say. She was so overcome with emotion she could barely speak.

“Thank you, your highness.”

Kip and Sarafina were married soon after–”

“Just like that?” Melody asked. “They don’t even know each other.

“Okay, okay,” Kit said. “After three years they married. And they lived happily ever after. The end.”

PS: Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

PPS: Kip’s stubble though!!!
